Priscilla Curtains 

Decorating your home is an ongoing and tumultuous affair.  Priscilla curtains are one of the many decor approaches and, with its style around for years; this particular look will work for many different rooms. Even if you’ve painted every room, got all the perfect furniture and got custom curtains for all your windows, you will inevitably want a change.  Changing your window dressing is probably the easiest of the lot and you’ve got a variety of different approaches to take.

The ruffled Priscilla style is not adored by everyone, but the right print and properly hung curtain provides a country style or Victorian appeal, which is desired by many in their decorating themes.  In the modern conservative looking room a solid colour – white or neutral shades are best – to beautifully enhance the other elements of the room.  For an old style country charm, a floral print of plaid design would fit in nicely and bring attention to the window with the added colour and involvement.  A Victorian curtain is going to bring sophistication and formality to a room with a ruffled sheer or lace material.

Priscilla designed curtains need special attention given to proper hanging as that is a strong factor in their overall appeal.  Following a few simple tips will give you a true representation of timeless beauty that these window treatments exude.  When hung properly, the proper Priscilla look has two panels pulled to the side with the ruffles on the inside and bottom portions.  There are some styles with an attached top ruffle, otherwise a separate ruffled valance completes the look.

To correctly hang curtains, measure the window width and be sure each panel is the same width or wider than the window.  The Priscilla style is made to be extra wide as it improves the look when it hangs with the sides pulled back.  Next, install the curtain hardware using a double rod if you don’t get the style with the ruffled valance look on top.  The double rod will attach closest to the wall with the longer valance rod over top of the other.  For the hanging, be sure to put the ruffled sides on the rod first if you only have one ruffled side, then slide on the other panel.   Tie back with ties that come with the curtains or use your own made of lace, braided rope or delicate, decorative material.  Adjust panels by pulling loosely from tie back to suit your personal preference and then step back and enjoy.
